Arvand structure is located in northern Dezful (Azadegan Plain) in the vicinity and parallel to Iran-Iraq border, 50 km to the south of Abadan city at the mouth of the Arvand River. Arvand anticline is free of any forms of outcrops and it has been known by geophysical surveys. It has a north-west to south-east trend. Arvand-1 well has been drilled in 2008 in order to evaluate the hydrocarbon potential of khami and Bangestan groups. Four well tests in lower Fahliyan formation indicated the existence of oil and gas in this field. Fahlian reservoir contains light oil with approximately 44 API. Oil in place is estimated about 1200 M barrels and recoverable oil is about 120M barrels. IPC contract has been decided for development of this field.
